Description

This is a stated First American Printing (1927) of Revolt in the Desert, by the British soldier T. E. Lawrence, aka Lawrence of Arabia (1888-1925). It was published in the UK in 1926 and is Lawrence's shortened version of The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is the account of his experiences while serving as a liaison officer with rebel forces during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918. It was shortened to make it more readable to the general public and became a critically-acclaimed best-seller. It is a handsome book with purple covers and navy blue type on the cover and spine. No dust jacket. 335 pages with several illustrations. Its original owner, a Georgia man named A.J. Holland, signed the front endpaper, and then stamped his name on the first pages up to page 1. And he took very good care of it; there is no evidence that it has been read. There is no wear to the outside, and there is no interior damage. It's perfect.
