About the author

Peter H. Juviler is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Barnard University. He was the director of the human rights major at Barnard and the co-director of the Study of Human Rights and co-chair of the University Seminar on Human Rights at Colombia. Juviler passed away in 2013.
