About This Item

Los Angels: Crest Publications, 1962. First edition. Hardcover. Good/good. First ediiton stated. Oversized hardcover. 238 pp. Illustrated with photos and reproductions. Very good, some soiling to the white paper covered boards. In dust jacket with some soiling and edge chipping. A bit musty. The history of the vast system of interurbans that developed in Southern California starting in the 1880s. Dramatic battles between rail tycoons came at the turn of the century when Henry E. Huntington planned to use electric trolleys for a system spanning California; these systems were, more than any other single factor, responsible for the area's growth into the sprawling landof many communities rather than one compact city.
