Ridge Valley is the story of a mining town located int he vast Connellsville Coal and Coke Region in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Founded in the early 1900s, the Ridge Valley mine was worked by hundreds of European immigrants to extract its treasure.Growing up in the Patch in the late teens and early 1920s are teenagers John, Jerry, Bull and Corky who will face a calamity in the mine that immediately propels them into adulthood. In Carbon Hill, Alabama, Leroy Johnson, a Negro teen, travels north with his father Rufus to seek a better life in the coalfields of PA. John, Jerry and Leroy meet an become friends. The miners, in order to gain a fair wage, attempt to form a union. They go on strike and challenge the industrialists who use their power to prevent any union organizational plans. John, Jerry, Leroy and Bull become directly involved with a clash of wills between the two groups.

On the left side of the Route 119 southbound lanes, half mile past the 201 intersection. We feature many authors local to the southwestern PA area and specialize in history, mystery and metaphysical topics, pre-revolution Americana and post-apocalyptic fiction. Southwestern PA history, including coal mining and coke ovens, the iron and steel industries, the occult, mystical, new age, spirituality, religion. Civil war and WWII histories, audiobooks, cookbooks, children's and young adult titles, vintage photography and travel/adventure/exploration. We opened for business on July 1, 2002.

We accept checks, money orders, Paypal, Visa and Mastercard. USPS Media Mail postage is $4.00 for one book. $1.50 each additional book. USPS Priority Mail is $8.00 for one book. $4.00 each additional book. Some international orders may require extra shipping charges. Items paid for by Money Order and Checks will be shipped as soon as we receive the payment. All books are packaged in a protective layer of cardboard, bubble wrap - taped securely for waterproofing, and then wrapped in brown paper, or in a box. We always try to pack with care to prevent any damage from happening during the shipping process.
