About This Item
New York: William Morrow and Company, 1938. Hardcover. Small 4to. Burgundy leatherette with gilt lettering and decoration, pictorial dust jacket. xii, 641pp. Numerous illustrations, line drawings. Near fine/very good. Jacket mildly edgeworn, with several miniscule edge chips and a single 1" chip to front panel upper left. Excellent, tight first edition of this (to cite front flap) "most important contribution to rifle lore and literature that has appeared in years." Inscribed and signed huge and bold on front flyleaf in blue ink: "Greetings Mrs. Shooter / Phil Sharpe." No kidding on that recipient's name, either -- presumably Sharpe's standard inscription for women whose name he didn't know.
