About This Item

(Berkeley, California): Oyez, 1976. Softcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First trade edition. Illustrated by Patrick Kennedy. Small quarto. Wrappers. Topedge foxed, modest wear, very good. Inscribed to Malcolm Cowley: "To Malcolm Cowley / best wishes / William Everson / Oct 10, 1980. Kingfisher Flat."

Cowley was a poet and literary critic, and chronicler of the the so-called "Lost Generation" of American expatriates in Paris. While probably best known for his book of poetry *Blue Juniata*, his most important work was probably his editing of the *Viking Portable Library,* where his selections, criticism, and popularization of those American authors whose reputations and fortunes had suffered between the Wars. A nice association.
