Title and author are stamped on the spine in black. Illustrated endpapers are orange and off white. xii, 347 pp. Also contains a complete list of titles in The Modern Library at the back. Toledano 191.2. <br><br>CONDITION: Overall VG. The cover shows some wear and soiling. Completely unmarked except for a previous owner's name written on the front pastedown, dated 1938. Back inner hinge is starting at the foot, yet covers are still nicely affixed and the binding is sound. Pagination is complete. Leaves have delightfully and evenly toned with a vintage feel. A nice, readable copy. Full refund if not satisfied.

Synopsis

Rome Haul (1929) is the first novel by American author Walter D. Edmonds. The novel tells the love story of two workers on New York State's Erie Canal. In 1934, the book was adapted to the play, The Farmer Takes a Wife by Frank B. Elser and Marc Connelly, and, in 1935, the play was adapted to a feature film of the same name directed by Victor Fleming and starring Henry Fonda (in his first film), and Janet Gaynor.
