About This Item

Privately Printed, 1989. Hardcover First Ed, unstated. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY AUTHOR. First Ed, unstated. Very Good+ in Very Good+ DJ: Both book and DJ show indications of very light use. Book shows just a touch of shelf-wear; binding shows slight lean, but remains perfectly secure; text clean. DJ shows only mild rubbing; price unclipped; mylar-protected. Overall, remains clean, sturdy, and quite presentable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. 98pp. Hardback with DJ. On Saturday, September 9th, 1961 two people, a married couple, a man aged 55 and his wife aged forty-two, were found lying dead in the back of their station wagon in the garage by their home. Their maid found them about 7 o'clock in the evening, when she was going to tell them dinner was served. She immediately called a doctor and the police, for she was not certain whether this was murder or not. No marks of violence of any kind were found on the bodies. The deceased had been known to be in perfect health; and the examining physician stated that they had died neither of stroke nor of a heart attack. The car windows had been rolled down, and the air also came through an open window in the garage. The engine of the car was not running; so they had no perished from choking fumes or for lack of air. Later Maia Heller testified that those were the bodies of her parents, confirming the testimony of the maid. The case was filed under suicide, not murder. But the real cause of death was never discovered. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY AUTHOR.
