Roy Rogers on the Double R-Ranch by Elizabeth Beecher - 1951

Decorative matt unclipped dustjacket is illustrated on the front with Roy Rogers and Trigger and on the rear with a list of other books in the Sandpiper series. Dustjacket has an approximate 3" tear at the top right corner but is less visible as all pieces are intact, slight wear along the top and bottom and rear edges with much more along the front edge as attached to the jacket flap. Dark teal cloth boards have an illustration and text in dark navy-blue blind stamped to front board. The back strip has no text and only minimal wear at the top and bottom but otherwise spine, boards and corners are in excellent condition. All corners are sharp with no bumping. Spine is straight with no cracking to the decorative endpapers that include "book belongs to" template and "the end" on rear. Text block is solid with all pages firmly attached to the stitch binding. Age tanning throughout. There is a very small piece missing from the top corner of the title page but otherwise the interior pages are in perfect condition - clean, with no tears, cracks, or previous owner marks.

Every page has full color with intext and full-page illustrations, the "Sandpiper Series" was intended for young readers who had out grown the Little Golden Books. It was the young school age readers that were kept in mind when choosing subjects and for them to read the books to themselves.

Roy Rogers (1911 – 1998) was an American singer (Sons of the Pioneers and signature song Happy Trails), actor, television host and rodeo performer nicknamed the King of the Cowboys. He sang, appeared in almost 90 films, numerous episodes of his self-titled radio program, and the Roy Rogers Show. In many of them, he appeared with his wife Dale Evans, his famous Golden Palomino horse, Trigger; and his German Shepherd dog, Bullet. In his 1940 contract he purchased a clause that he would have the right to his likeness, voice, and name for merchandising – Roy Rogers was second only to Walt Disney in the number of items featuring his name.

Elizabeth Beecher (1898 – 1973) was an American screenwriter best known for her work on Western-themed movies and television shows in the 1940s and 1950s but outside of film also wrote comic and children's books (including seven Little Golden Books and four Big Golden Books). She also rewrote or ghost wrote more than 100 manuscripts.

Ernest Nordli (1912 – 1968) was an American animation designer and layout artist, most notably for Walt Disney Studios. In the early-1950's he also designed many covers for Dell Comics (including many western heroes) and illustrations for western books.
