London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1903 . Leather. Good. 6.5" by 4.5". None. A reprint edition of Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam in Hatchards signed half calf binding. Hatchard signed half calf binding of Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, the Astronomer Poet of Persia. Originally translated into English verse by Edward FitzGerald in 1859, from the work of Omar Khayyam (1048-1131). The work grew in popularity in the later nineteenth century among the English-speaking world.Omar Khayyam was a Persian polymath from the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Editor's notes at end signed W. A. W. From the Ascott House library, owned by the de Rothschild family. The library was created following the conversion of the billiards room in 1936 and was predominantly filled with books collected by Anthony de Rothschild. In Hatchard signed half calf binding. Externally, there is some discolouration to the leather on the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and very clean. Good
