Description

[New York]: Limited Editions Club, 1935. Hardcover. Old dampstain affecting the text but not very noticeable except for the endpapers which are slightly darker and a slight wrinkling to all of the pages; the front cover also affected by the dampstain which slightly darkens much of the lower half, as seen in the image. Overall Very Good in chemise and slipcase with the top edge partially detached. Duodecimo (4" x 6") bound in full mustard morocco leather with gilt lettering on the spine and an elaborate peacock and floral design blindstamped on both covers; 80 pages. The text is carefully selected from the five various editions of Edward Fitzgerald's translation. Copy #1273 of 1500 numbered copies printed on imported Japanese Kozo paper, folded double in Japanese fashion, with every page printed with a floriated design in four colors additionally illuminated by Valenti Angelo, by hand, with pure gold or pure silver. SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page.
