About This Item

Hodder & Stoughton, nd[1913] 1913. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG+. BULL, Ren. 1st Trade Edition. 21.5 x 28.2 cm, brown cloth with blue and gilt stamped titles and decoration to the front and gilt stamped titles to the spine. Top edge brown, unpaginated 78 leaves, with 10 full page tipped in colour illustrations mounted within gilt decorative borders and with captioned tissue-guards; together with 19 smaller mounted vignettes. There are also many in-text drawings, head and tail pieces and elaborate borders. The boards have a touch of shelf wear with light rubbing to the corners and edges and spine tips and to the gilt decoration. There is a split in the cloth across the very tip of the foot of the spine, slight pushing to the bottom corners and a 3mm drip mark to the top edge of the front board. Internally there is a book plate to the front pastedown but no inscriptions. The free endpapers have some toning (acid migration) and the following and preceding few leaves have a touch of spotting whilst there is a small bruise measuring 0.3 x 1 cm on the fore edge of six leaves affecting none of the text or illustrations. The tipped in plates are all present and in fine condition as are the captioned tissue-guards. All in all a beautifully produced book with some lovely illustrations. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.
