Hardback octavo, dustjacket, good condition (in good dustjacket), colour drawing frontispiece, cluster feew dot marks front cover jacket, pages & jacket toned as usual, minor edgewear, owner's written name & date. 286 pp. The Hon. H. V. Evatt records the clash between William Bligh (17 years after the mutiny on the Bounty), who was Governor of New South Wales, and John Macarthur and officers of the New South Wales Corps over control of the importation of rum, used for trading. Bligh tried to restrict the importation of rum, and his officers rebelled and arrested Bligh. Title page subtitle: 'Including the John Murtagh Macrossan Memorial Lectures Delivered at the University of Queensland, June 1937.' Cover subtitle: 'The incidents vie in glamour and romance with the epic of the Bounty.' (Originally published 1938. This copy, third edition, Angus & Robertson, hardcover, 1943, actually 3rd printing.).
