The second impression of this edition, which has been revised, re-set, enlarged, and largely rewritten from the 1877 first edition.Complete in two volumes. With a portrait frontispiece to volume I, a folding map of population density, and a folding map showing 'zones of vegetation'. Collated, complete.Sir Donald Mackenzie Wallace was a Scottish public servant, writer, editor and foreign correspondent for The Times. He lived in Russia in the early 1870s, and upon his return to England wrote extensively about the country.With eight pages of advertisements to the rear of each volume. In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Bumping to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Volume I hinges strained, but generally firmly held. Internally, firmly bound.
