Sad Cypress by Agatha Christie - 1940

States 1940 on copyright page with no references to subsequent printings, lists to "Ten Little Niggers" on list of Christie books to left of title page, orange boards with black lettering on spine, ads for the same prior Christie books from 1939 at rear of book (plus ads for 2 other Collins Crime Club books from other authors), D/W has 2/6 Edition ad on rear cover. But the d/w is unclipped and shows no price on the inside flap so this is probably an Overseas Edition. D/W is in 3 parts separated at the spine with a large portion at top of the spine missing.as well as portions missing from front and rear panels. Corresponding Fading to the orange boards where the d/w portions are missing. Previous owner's inscription in pencil to the fep and a light pencilled price on ffep also in pencil. Pages clean throughout, binding sqaure with slight bumps to corners on boards. Notwithstanding d/w condition, extremely rare wartime Christie 1st edition in need of restoration.
