Good. 8vo, publisher's cloth and printed paper spine label, good with quite a bit of darkening and soil to covers, spine label darkened and very hard to read, contents good to very good, endpapers show light general soil, front pastedown has residue from old tape and a blurry ink numerical note; flyleaf has top .75" neatly trimmed off, probably where a previous owner's name was. Contents otherwise very good and has three engraved plates of flies between pp. 234 and 239.

London: John Murray, 1828. First edition, 8vo (183 x 113mm), viii, 273, [1]pp., 3 plates of flies, illustrations in the text, title and endpapers lightly browned, later cloth-backed boards, preserving the original spine, uncut, a good copy. Westwood and Satchell, p.77.

Very good+ in full dark green contemporary leather covered boards with four raised bands on the spine with gilt text in one compartment and gilt designs in the other four with the date "1829" at the heel of the spine. The boards are decorated with a unique rolled grain appearance with gilt borders. A 16mo measuring 6 1/2 by 4 inches with marbled edges to the text block and matching marbled end sheets. Both joints are worn, but holding due to reinforced cloth hinges. 335 pages of text illustrated with 6 engraved steel plates and numerous engravings within the text to include 3 pages of eleven insects with their imitations on hooks.
