Previous owners signature inside front cover, minor light toning to end pages, top edge stained red. Dust jacket now protected in mylar sleeve. SCARCE in this condition. Sylvia Nora Townsend Warner was an English novelist, poet and musicologist, known for works such as Lolly Willowes, Whether a Dove or a Seagull, and After the Death of Don Juan.

This is the Tartarus Press edition publised in 2000 (first published by Chatto & Windus in 1932). Blue hardcover with title in pale mauve colour gilt on spine. Condition: Very good, with very light shelfwear to covers. Previous owners bookplate on front pastedown. Small neat spelling correction to the word "feeling" on p.159 which should read "feeding". The previous owner has crossed out the l and put a d in the margin. Dustjacket condition: Good, with light shelfwear and some smudging and small marks. One of a limited edition of 250, this is number 88..

The First UK printing published by Chatto and Windus, London in 1932. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Marbled cloth boards with gilt titling and decorations to the spine. The gilt remains very bright. Toning to the text-block and page edges with light offsetting to the end-papers. Free from inscriptions. Four pages of adverts to the rear as called for. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition with light edge wear and some rubbing in places to the rear panel. The spine is toned with some fading of the blue lettering and some rubbing and light staining. The wrapper remains very bright in the removable Brodart archival cover. Fifteen short stories, including 'Elinor Barley', 'Some World Far From Ours' et al. with the title story being a sequel to the novel 'Mr Fortune's Maggot'.
