New York: Forest and Stream Publishing Co., 1899. 12mo (7.5" x 5"), pictorial gray cloth stamped in black and gold. [7], 253 pp., [2] pp. publ. ads. Ownership inscription dated Feb. 1908 on front free endpaper.

Fifth edition. A tale of outdoorsmen traversing the north woods of Vermont, capturing the Yankee dialect peculiar to the region. Writer, illustrator and folklorist Rowland E. Robinson (1833-1900) was born in Vermont and authored such works as A Danvis Pioneer; Forest and Stream Fables; and Danvis Folks. He also wrote regularly for magazines such as Atlantic Monthly and Forest and Stream, the publisher of the present book.
