Description

Chicago/New York/San Francisco: Rand McNally & Company, 1974. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Lougheed, Robert. Standalone novel by the author of the beloved "Misty of Chincoteague" series, this one set in pre-Civil War Wyoming/Nebraska Territory where a teen boy joins the Pony Express to be reunited with his beloved horse, Medicine Hat, whom his hostile father had traded away. In 232 pages + 1 additional page of books consulted, with lovely watercolor endpapers, 2 internal full-color plates (each spanning 2 pages), & numerous pen-and-ink illustrations throughout the text by artist Robert Lougheed. Orig. published in 1972, this is the Second Printing of that First Edition from 1974. With colorfully decorated paper over boards, this hardcover small 4to is in VG condition, with 2 flaws: 1) writing in black marker to front cover directly under the subtitle, 2) spotting to lower outside fore edge. Else, completely clean & bright, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning to edges. NO DJ.
