First edition copy of The Scenery of Switzerland and the Causes to which it is Due. Lubbock was inspired to write this volume after a summer spent in Switzerland in 1861 and his noticing of the physical geography of the country. The volume considers the geology of Switzerland, the origin of the mountains the valleys, lakes and rivers. Richly illustrated throughout the volume and with a frontispiece. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some light bumping to the spine and some light marks to the boards and spine. There is a previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good Indeed
