The spine tips show light wear, and additionally the upper right corner of the front board is beginning to fray. The majority of the boards are beginning to fade from black to a dark blue. The interior is very lightly toned, but otherwise clean. The dust jacket's spine tips are chipped. There are a few small chips and tears along the edges. The jacket is also sunned and lightly dust soiled. The jacket price of 2.75 is also penciled to the top of the rear flap. Published in 1953 just after Oppenheimer was stripped of his security clearance by the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) due to his opposition to the development of the hydrogen bomb and his past associations with the Communist Party USA..
