Gilt titling to the spine and front board. Publisher dust jacket with the price of $2.75 on the front flap and a portrait of Oppenheimer on the back cover. 120pp. Very Good book and Good dust jacket. The spine tips show light wear, and additionally the upper right corner of the front board is beginning to fray. The majority of the boards are beginning to fade from black to a dark blue. The interior is very lightly toned, but otherwise clean. The dust jacket's spine tips are chipped. There are a few small chips and tears along the edges. The jacket is also sunned and lightly dust soiled. The jacket price of 2.75 is also penciled to the top of the rear flap. Published in 1953 just after Oppenheimer was stripped of his security clearance by the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) due to his opposition to the development of the hydrogen bomb and his past associations with the Communist Party USA.. Science and the Common Understanding is a collection of the Reith Lectures delivered by Oppenheimer over the B.B.C. from London that explores the relationship between science and the public.
