Very good condition in very good d.j. The first complete book on the art of scrimshaw, with over 450 illustrations. Dovetails the development of scrimshaw with the development of whaling. Also includes other nautical arts, such as "sailor's valentines", shell work, military carvings, Eskimo carvings. 1st edition. Boards.
