About This Item
New York:: W. W. Norton & Company,, (1971). SIGNED hardcover first edition -. Very near fine in blue cloth in a very good dustjacket (ghosts of tape reinforcement along the edges and folds of the dj caused some discoloration to interior and along the back cover and flaps. INSCRIBED by author on the front endpaper as follows: "For...., fondly, Cynthia. Northampton, October, 1972." Seton was known as an essayist and feminist as well as a novelist, but (as the NY Times noted) she "she eschewed feminist rhetoric, substituting a graceful and ironic style laced with compassion for women struggling to find expression and for the men in their lives." 252 pp. Dust jacket art by Muriel Nasser. An uncommon signature.
