For twenty-three years, Clive Cussler's NUMA®-the National Underwater & Marine Agency-has scoured the rivers and seas in search of lost ships of historic significance. His teams have been inundated by tidal waves, and beset by the vagaries of man and nature, but the results-and the stories behind them-have often been dramatic

Here, then, are more true tales of sea- and land-going adventures, as Cussler and his crews set out to track down history. The famous ghost ship Mary Celeste, found floating off the Azores in 1872 with no one on board; the Carpathia, the ship that rescued the Titanic survivors and was itself lost to U-boats six years later; L'Oiseau Blanc, the airplane that almost beat The Spirit of St. Louis across the Atlantic before disappearing in the Maine woods-all these, plus steamboats, ironclads, a seventeenth-century flagship, a certain famous PT boat, and even a dirigible, prove tantalizing targets as Cussler demonstrates again that truth can be "at least as fun, and sometimes stranger, than fiction" (Men's Journal).

Terms of Sale: Items are 12mo. or 8vo or 4to. in original binding and in at least good condition unless otherwise noted. The dust jacket condition will be noted separately in the item description. Items are subject to prior sale, though we update our online inventory to remove sold books in a timely manner. Most books are posted with at least a picture of the cover, with other pictures of notable features or defects. Additional pictures of any item are available upon request. We strive to accurately and comprehensively describe the condition of each item for sale and will gladly provide further details if asked. Standard shipping in the U.S. will go by USPS Media Rate; faster shipping will go by USPS Priority Mail. The shipping costs are based on most books weighing 2 - 4 pounds (1 - 2 kg). International shipping will cost more, unfortunately. Large, heavy books may require additional postage, but we will try to avoid this if we can. If feasible, dust jackets will be placed in protective sleeves before shipping. If you don't like the protective sleeve, they are easy to remove without harming the dust jacket. We ship books protected by bubble wrap in carefully-taped boxes. For Priority Mail, we will usually box the book, then place the box inside a Priority Mail flat-rate envelope; most Priority Mail boxes are either too large or too small for individual books. The "shipping times" are usually accurate, but delays can happen, as we have no influence on the national or international delivery industry! A tracking number for your package is available upon request. USPS Priority Mail shipping includes insurance. All orders may be returned for any reason within 30 days of receipt.
