About This Item
New York: The Viking Press, 1982. First Edition, First Printing. Cloth and boards. Very Fine/Fine. SIGNED by the Author on the free front endpaper, tall 8vo, bright green quarter cloth with silver lettering on spine over blue boards with silver "JG" on front cover, Mylar-protected lettered dust jacket (unclipped) designed by Paul Bacon, [xiv] + 320 pages. Judith Guest (born 1936) is an American novelist and screenwriter. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and is the great-niece of Poet Laureate Edgar Guest (1881-1959). Guest's first book, Ordinary People (1976) was the basis of the 1980 film "Ordinary People" that won the Academy Award for Best Picture. A very carefully constructed and somewhat Faulkneresque novel about a divorced attorney with a complex family who joins with a divorcee to help a youth from a broken family. EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION throughout!
