Privately printed First edition, one of 52 copies only privately printed, of Conrad's dramatization of his own novel (first published in 1907). Conrad subsequently revised the play into three acts before its first performance at the Ambassadors Theatre in November 1922 and publication in revised form in 1923. Quarto. Original paper wrappers, front cover lettered in black. Housed in a red cloth folding case, spine lettered in gilt. Covers lightly toned and creased at extremities, small chip to head of spine, short closed tear at head of front cover, chipping at foot of rear cover. A very good copy. Wise, A Conrad Library, p. 43.
