About the author

EDWARD N. PETERSON is Professor of European History at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Introduced to German history through service in the U.S. Army between 1944 and 1948, he later received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1953. He is the author of seven books on Germany and World War II.
