London: Archibald Constable and Co, 1897. First edition. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5.5". None. A first edition copy of George Meredith's 'Selected Poems'. A First Edition copy of Meredith's 'Selected Poems'. The selection for this collection was made under the supervision of the author himself, and so it can be assumed, contains those best valued by Meredith himself. These include, 'Woodland Peace', 'Breath of the Briar' and 'Modern Love', among others. Previous owners inscription to the front endpaper, dated 1901. George Meredith was a critically acclaimed Victorian Novelist and poet, being nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature seven times. Aside from his numerous poetic works, Meredith also wrote a total of nineteen novels. In full cloth binding. Externally smart. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the extremities. Slight rubbing to the joints, and to the extremities. Slight tidemark to the front board. Spotting to the front and rear pastedowns and endpapers. Previous owners inscription to the front endpaper, dated 1901. Internally, firmly bound. pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spot to the first and last pages. Very Good Indeed
