The two 'Selected Tales' volumes have b&w illustrations by Edgard Cirlin. 'Strength for Each Day' has b&w decorative border to each 'Month' page and at the top of each section. 1.'Selected Tales by Guy de Maupassant' does not have a blank front free endpaper like the other volumes, but there is no indication that anything has been removed. The included tales are: Mlle. Fifi; The Necklace; A Practical Joke; The Piece of String; The Prisoners; The Return. 2. 'Selected Tales of Bret Harte' includes The Luck of the Roaring Camp; The Outcasts of Poker Flat; Tennessee's Partner; How Santa Claus Came to Simpson's Bar. 3. 'Strength for Each Day. A Thought for Every Day in the Year: Selected from the Book of Proverbs' is arranged in monthly sections with a short reading for each day. All books have very light browning to the eges of the text block and very light wear at the corners of the boards. 2. has light fading to the the gilt lettering and decoration on the spine, minor wrinkling at the top/bottom of the spine and an area of surface paper loss on the marbled paper of the front board. 3. has some light scratches on the front board label..
