This Modern Library edition includes selections from Washington Irving's "The Sketch Book [of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.]", "Bracebridge Hall", "Tales of a Traveller", "The Alhambra", "Wolfert's Roost" and with the unabridged "[Diedrich] Knickerbocker's History of New York." Edited, with an introduction by Saxe Commins. --- In Toledano spine 11 / blue cloth / ML hex torchbearer device blindstamped to front cover / gilt-stamped spine titling / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style i, verso lists 393 titles in ML catalog. (Jacket likely printed a few years before this copy of the book was produced.) Likely published c.1964 (though 1945 date appears in book). ML #240.1. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy, though with creases to corners of a few leaves due to a binder's error and inked signatures to front free endpaper. Unclipped dust jacket with sunning to spine & light chafing to extremities, otherwise bright, intact and in removable archival mylar protector.; 12mo 7" - 7-1/2" tall; xix, 669 pages .
