John Lane; The Bodley Head, 1900. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG. 1st Edition. 12.7 x 19.8 cm green pictorial cloth with titles in black to the front and spine, 297[1] + [6] pp publisher's catalogue. Top edge grey, other edges uncut with 8 black and white illustrations by the author. There is toning to the spine and a little light marking to the boards. There is a little rubbing and pushing to the spine tips edges and corners with a 0.5 cm hole in the cloth at the foot of the spine. Internally, there are two book plates and a newspaper cutting to the endpapers and some pencil notes including a family tree of some of those mentioned in the book (images available). There is spotting to the endpapers and occasional handling marks and spotting within the text and dust marking to the uncut edges. An unusual E.V.B. work.
