Poem telling of the final voyage of the merchant ship Britannia and her crew. Written by William Falconer, Scottish epic poet of the eighteenth century, mostly concerned with life at sea.The thirteenth edition of this widely celebrated poem. Illustrated with four full page plates and one folding plate illustrative of a fully rigged merchant ship. Collation for this edition seems to vary. In half calf binding over marbled boards. Externally with shelf wear, lightly chipped and rubbed to head and tail of spine and extremities. Joints cracked, rear board held by two cords only, front board by one cord only. Previous ownership inscription to front pastedown, undated. Internally, text block firmly bound. Pages generally clean with a touch of spotting to occasional leaf, particularly leaves of plates. Good
