About the author

Eihei Dogen (Kioto, 26 de enero de 1200 - Ib., 29 de septiembre de 1253) fue un maestro budista japons fundador de la escuela Soto del Zen en este pas. Su obra maestra, Shobogenzo, es una de las cumbres de la literatura Zen. Escrita a lo largo de ms de veinte aos, se compone en sus ediciones modernas de 95 captulos o fascculos. Dogen trat en ellos una gran variedad de temas, desde indicaciones prcticas para la organizacin de la vida monacal o la correcta prctica del zazen, a recuerdos de su viaje a China o reflexiones filosficas, entre las cuales destaca su concepcin del tiempo.
