Inscribed "To Paul with all my best - the first day of school! Bob"; very probably to Paul Saunders, head of the Albuquerque Academy in the early sixties. Creeley taught at the Academy through 1960-61. Slight roll to spine, page edges tanned, rippling to last few leaves. Jacket sunned, worn at edges and folds, stained at spine and along front edges, rippled at rear, chipped at crown and heel, with closed tears at either side of heel, small nick at rear spine fold. Rare first issue of this important little magazine featuring a stellar roster of contributors, including Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray as well as Beat notables including Burroughs (Schottlaender C13), Corso, Ferlinghetti, et al. Unmarked copy with significant bumps and some general wear.

Rare hardcover 1st edition. Cover has some wear and water marks on the edge. Some shelf wear & corners bumped. Some light tanning. Nice, tight binding. Good for its age. Fictional story of Wannaseska, the Cherokee prophet set during the time the State of Georgia (white settlers) were about to confiscate Cherokee Lands in N. Georgia. The prophet is first hand eye witness and victim to the outrages. Story ends with the Trail, of Tears when the Cherokees agreed to move to Indian Territory in Oklahoma.
