About This Item

Framed Drawing. Handsome and Fine, not examined out of the frame. A 3-1/2" x 4-7/8" ORIGINAL DRAWING of Lewis by E. Maurice Bloch on a 6" x 8-1/2" sheet of paper, matted and framed to an overall size of 12-3/4" x 16-1/2" SIGNED as "B" in the drawing by Bloch and INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Lewis below the image: "To E. Maurice Bloch/Sinclair Lewis/N.Y./Oct. 26, 1941." An unusual form of Lewis's signature, the drawing apparently done for TIME Magazine. Archivally framed.

E. Maurice Bloch was an American art historian, professor, curator, and collector. He was the world's acknowledged expert on artist George Caleb Bingham. At the time of this drawing he was 26 years old.
