James Mercer Langston Hughes (February 1, 1902 May 22, 1967) was an American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright, and columnist. He was one of the earliest innovators of the then-new literary art form called jazz poetry. In a red cloth binding in an unclipped dustwrapper in an acetate protective covering. Externally, smart with just minor shelfwear. Dustwrapper is smart with just minor edgewear. Spine is slightly sunned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. There is a bookseller's label to the front pastedown and an ink inscription to the recto of front free end papers. Very Good Indeed
