Deals with the lives and works of two Scottish medical men of the nineteenth century: James Young Simpson (1811-70), who was the first to use chloroform as an anaesthetic in the 1840s; and the surgeon James Syme (1799-1870). 288pp, 21 b&w illustrations.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
