Bound in scarlet buckram with large illustration of the Green Knight blocked in arsenic green and gilt, with gilt spine titles and top edge scarlet. Housed in a matching scarlet slipcase. Extremely light sunning to slipcase edges and slight bump to corner with very small surface loss. Fine book in a Near Fine slipcase. Attractive copy of Simon Armitage's bold and richly textured translation of the Middle English Lancastrian chivalric romance "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight", which retains the Lancastrian dialect, mesmeric descriptions of landscape, and eerie atmosphere of the much loved original.
