About This Item

Tacámbaro, Michoacán: Taller Martín Pescador, 2014. Limited edition. Hardcover. Very good. Folio. 88,(2)pp. Sewn on vellum tapes laced into stiff green paper boards, printed title label on the upper board and printed design label on the spine. Finely printed letterpress on handmade paper of just the right shade of green, and made by Pasquale De Ponte in San Lucas. Illustrated with linocuts printed in black fashioned by Artemio Rodriguez.

The text is a new and wonderful translation by John Ridland. He has masterfully evoked the original alliterative verse in modern English. This is the first edition of the complete translation, parts of it having been published in literary journals from 2005 to 2010.

As a fine press book, this is clearly a masterpiece. The handmade paper is of a perfect shade of pale green to carry the text, set in Bembo Titling and Poliphilus types cast by Bradley Hutchinson.

One of 200 numbered copies from a total edition of 226 copies. This is copy 127. he lower spine has large dent carrying onto the text block and a couple of light spots to the upper board.
