As issued, in full gray cloth with title in gold on the front cover and spine. Covers are moderately soiled; top corners bumped and spine ends softened. Very light foxing to the plates and adjacent leaves, otherwise, a clean copy. Nevins remarks, "These brief reminiscences include an account of the fall of Fort Fisher, as well as the author's experience while a prisoner at Point Lookout." Dornbusch II, 888; Howes I-98; Nevins p. 112.
