1840. WASHBURN, Emory. SKETCHES OF THE JUDICIAL HISTORY OF MASSACHUSETTS FROM 1630 TO THE REVOLUTION IN 1775. Boston: Charles C. Little and James Brown, 1840. Inscribed presentation copy, "with the profound respect of the Author." 407 pp. 8vo., publisher's brown ribbed cloth stamped in gilt and blind. Good, some chipping to front board, cloth splitting 1/8 inch at heel and crown joints, corners worn, small paint stain to heel. Cloth bright. Endpapers heavily foxed. Inscribed by the author on front flyleaf. Interior near fine with only an occasional spot of foxing. Justices, trial cases, legal anecdotes. The sole edition. Washburn was governor of Massachusetts and a University Professor of Law at Harvard.
