Times Print Shop, New Milford, Conn., 1932 - facsimile reprint of 1854 edition. 171 pp, small 8vo, hard cover - no dust jacket. The title continues: "Comprising startling facts of daring feats performed by himself - perils by sea and land - frequent arrests and imprisonment - blowing out of jail with powder - failure of escape after he had led his cowardly associates out of the horrible pit, in Simsbury, in the prison yard, &c." "William Stuart, Connecticut's first counterfeiter, has many years been more or less a legend in Western Connecticut, especially along the borders of the Housatonic and Shepaug Rivers. He spent his last days in Bridgewater..." Bequest bookplate on free front endpaper, very light browning to endpapers and pages, darkening to top of text block and to spine, light soiling to boards, tiny stains on front hinge, minor edge wear to boards.
