About This Item
Norfolk, CT: New Directions, 1948. 115pp. Stiff wraps. Cover Design by Alvin Lustig. Cover extremities show chiipping, bottom of the spne has 1/2" chip. Browning pages. In this translation of Queneau novel Loin de Reuil, its hereo, Jacques lAumone, encounters the horrors of existential ontalgia, the delights of lice-breeding, low life and states of grace on the outskirts of Paris, pugilism in South American ports. A sequence of seemingly chance events causes him to later incarnate the illusions of his former compatriots in this occupation upon the silver screen: the skin of dreams. A novel of comic illusions, and being Queneau, with mathematical and philosophical underpinnings." This is #5 of the Direction Series. First Edition. Softcover. Good. Octavo.
