This is the revised third edition of the work. Dated from similar copies of the third edition on JISC. In original publisher's cloth binding and with original unclipped dust wrapper. This interesting work by Partridge explores the history of slang, covering many different types, including modern, American, Cockney, military, medical and rhyming. The work focuses on slang from the sixteenth century, up until the 1930s. Eric Partridge is a lexicographer who has written many books on this subject. With a bookplate of Nicolas Wall to front paste down. In original publisher's cloth binding with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent, with some light shelf wear only. Light bumping to the extremities. Bookplate to front paste down. The occasional handling mark to endpapers. Dust wrapper in good condition. Some chipping to wrap with occasional tear, causing loss to extremities of wrap. Slight sunning to wrap with age toning and slight spotting. Occasional mark to wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean Very Good Indeed
