The Smack" is the third novel for Lange, an award-winning novelist and short story writer, It features Rowan Petty, a flat-broke con man who's scraping by on the bottom rung of a cheap phone scam in Reno, when he hears about $2 million in smuggled Army money stashed in a Los Angeles apartment. It may be Petty's last best chance for a big score. He and his girl friend head south and straight into big time trouble. First edition, first printing (as stated, with complete numberline). About 6 1/8 x 9 1/2 inches, 352 pages in red paper-covered boards with white lettering on spine. The dustjacket's front panel shows a slashed playing card against a black background with red, black & white lettering. Back panel contains five blurbs praising the novel; small color photo of author on dj's back flap. Boards' spine ends bumped and upper right corner of front cover has tiny bump, o/w book shows no noticeable damage or flaws. Complete, clean, and unmarked. Binding tight and square. Not remaindered, not ex-library. Dustjacket shows minimal surface and edgewear, bumped spine ends. No tears, no creasing. Not price-clipped. A thriller writer with unlimited potential.
