The promoters of the World Congress on the Cork Oak and Cork (Lisbon 2000) are responsible for the contents of this publication, which was financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee and Guidance Fund and by the Portuguese Government. The text (in Portuguese with English translation) is partially based on the exhaustive work of Prof. Joaquim Vieira Natividade, and the main objective is to help make the cork oak, and cork as a material, known as a universal heritage, the protection, defence and improvement of which is a public obligation. Brown coated paper boards with wrap-around cover illustration of cork oak tree, back cover is simulated oak, endpapers are photo of cork slabs, well illustrated in color. Print run was 3,500 copies. Not found in OCLC.; 8-3/4" x 11-1/4"; 91 pp; Slight wear to rear cover, title page has stamped name etc. and inked gift inscription. These are probably from someone involved in production of this title, but we are not certain. Otherwise fine. .
