Wien, Carl Gerold's Sohn, 1860. 1st Edition . Hardcover. .. Royal octavo. Pp. xv, (i), 792. Set in Gothic type. HARDCOVER, later three-quarter light green cloth and marbled boards, gilt morocco label bit rubbed; light dampmark and sporadic foxing to first few leaves, old private ownership stamp to endpaper. In a very good condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. Theorie und Geschichte der National-Oekonomie 2. Teil. "During the last generation, American readers of German appear to have relied, as a rule, for information about early phases of German economic thought, chiefly upon two writers, Kautz ("Die Geschichtliche Entwickelung der National-Oekonomik und ihrer Literatur") and Roscher. Of Kautz, it is enough to say that he was of the rear guard of the rhetoricians. His book is wonderfully plausible, if not lucid, reading. Its early pages appear to express methodological conclusions which the maturest scholarship has not superseded." - Albion W. Small, "The Cameralists: The Pioneers…

Description:
New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1966 From the author's preface: "When I first started writing this book, my major purpose was to provide an introduction to money and banking that would be clear and readable for student and layman alike. Its success in this respect has been heartening, and revision provides an opportunity not only to update, but also to make the material conform even more closely to the needs expressed by its users. The most important of these changes are listed below. The book's orientation, however, remains the same; in examining the role that money plays in a modern economy, its ultimate objective is to add to an understanding of monetary policy and its effect on both national income and the standard of living of the individual. Policy, however, rests on the twin foundations of institutions and theory, and both of these, in turn, are illuminated by history as well as by current developments. The book, then, has four themes: history, institutions, theory, and policy.…

London: MacMillan and Co, 1890. Hardcover. Very Good. xvi, 231 p.; 17 cm. Green cloth with black spine and cover titles. Black endpapers. Bookplate of the Belles Lettres Society of Dickinson College on front fixed endpaper indicating that this was given to the college in 1891 by G. E. Mills, chair of the Book Committee. Embossed Dickinson College Library stamp on title page. Mary Paley Marshall (1850-1944) was part of the first class (of 5 women) at Cambridge's Newnham College in 1871. She taught economics at Newnham and was asked to write a book based on her lectures. Her husband, Alfred Marshall, also contributed to The Economics of Industry before publication. It was popular and reprinted many times. When his larger work The Principles of Economy first appeared in 1890, he opposed any further printings of The Economics of Industry, indicating that this was presumably the final printing. Extremely scarce. In Very Good Condition: cover is rubbed; call number written in white and…

Description:
"O Jevrejskom Pitanju" - On the Jewish Question – The first translation in Serbian language. By Karl Marx***
This translation is extremely rare, there is a total of 6 copies in public Libraries in Serbia (according to COBISS online register) and one copy in the National University Library of Ljubljana. There are no other copies known of this edition in any other European or western library.
As the publisher of the translation was an institution (Arhiv za pravne i društvene nauke), and it wasn't printed en masse since it was considered ideologically controversial. The number of copies printed is most probably 100 and likely under 50. There is a total of 7 surviving known copies besides this one. O Jevrejskom pitanju is a first Serbian translation of the famous Marx's work Jewish Question where he argues whether are the Jews and their capital is indeed a danger for society. The origin of Marx's attitude toward Jews and money is traced to his early life experiences. While Marx's 1st paper attacked… Read More
