About the author

Gary Lamb has been associated with the Waldorf movement for over thirty years as a parent, development director, high school economics teacher, teacher training lecturer, and consultant. Most recently he co-founded The Avalon Initiative designed to develop efforts to balance the current, materialistic view of childhood and child development. In 1992 he founded the Hope through Education program, one of the first privately-funded voucher programs in the United States. Gary has written numerous essays on educational reform. Now a grandfather of a Waldorf graduate and of Waldorf students, he works through the Avalon Initiative and the Hawthorne Valley Center for Social Research to build clear pathways toward educational freedom for all children.
