Contemporary full blue straight grain morocco leather bindings by T. Rogerson, Blackburn. Boards with gilt and blind tooled borders. Spines with gilt ruled compartments. Single gilt fillet to board edges. Gilt decorated turn-ins. All edges gilt, Marbled endpapers. Some rubbing and light marking to leather. Good solid bindings with no cracking to joints. Gift inscription to verso of front free endpaper in both volumes: 'Alice Sudell, the gift of her affectionate mother, July 16th 1818'. Engraved portrait frontis to volume I with light foxing, and offsetting to title page. A few lightly pencilled margin notes, text is otherwise very clean throughout. Lacking the half titles and ads. First printing of the diaries of prolific children's author Sarah Trimmer. . Overall condition is Very Good.
