Inscribed by the author "To Doris and Allen from their old friend Guy Murchie January 2, 1955 Look Away, Georgia" Doris Hinkley Lockerman ws aChicago Tribune reporter after being a secretary and "gate keeper" for Melvin Purvis , FBI agent who ended the careers of John Dillinger, and 'Pretty Boy' Floyd. At age 95 she assisted Mr Puvis' son Alston Purvis a Boston Univ professor in researching his book"Vendetta: FBI Hero Melvin Purvis's war Against Crime, and J Edgar Hoover's War Against Him". She later worked for the Atlanta Cnstitution and wrote numerous books on Georgia history. A very good copy in a very worn and chipped dust jacket.
